Stroke question time is coming to Torquay
Doctors in south Devon are inviting people to attend a free conference and question and answer session on stroke.
At the conference an expert panel, including health workers and people who have experienced stroke, will be on hand to answer questions and provide advice on how to spot and reduce the risk of stroke.
It is being held at Watcombe Primary School in Torquay on Wednesday 2 June from 2pm.
Local stroke support groups will be at the event providing information on how to access their services.
Rhoda Allison, consultant therapist in stroke, said: "This conference will be beneficial for people who have experienced stroke or for carers of those who have had a stroke.
"Every year more than 130,000 people in the UK have a stroke. While most people affected are over 65, people of any age can have one.
"Stroke is the third most common cause of death in the UK and is the single most common cause of severe disability."
The conference is free but places are limited. For more details or to book a place, contact Carolyn Bull on 01803 655 045 or Jacky Youngman on 01626 324 549.
