Crediton pupils set to be Healthier next Thursday
Devon's Local Involvement Network (LINk Devon) will host a community health day next Thursday, 24th June between 12 and 4pm, at the Queen Elizabeth Community College, upper school, Western Road.
The free open day is for all members of the community, helping to raise awareness of local health services and healthy living in Crediton.
LINk Devon is a network of over 800 groups and individuals that aims to influence health and social care services in Devon by reflecting the needs of local residents. The school based community event will be supported by a wide range of over 20 health and care providers giving information and advice on the day:
Devon NHS - Chlamydia screening team Devon PCT - Health promotion Stop Smoking Devon PCT - PALS Devon Partnership Trust Rethink Age Concern Be Involved Devon (BID) National Blood Service Mid Devon District Council Devon Wheels 2 Work St John's Ambulance Puzzletree Devon County Council - Family Information Service and Workforce Development team Crediton Childrens Centre Care Direct Devon and Cornwall Police Mid Devon Safety Partnership Mid Devon Young Carers Devon and Somerset Fire Service Devon Learning Disability Partnership
Taster sessions of reflexology, Indian Head Massage and Emotional Freedom Techniques will also be on offer. Tesco's pharmacy will be offeringBlood pressure testing and diabetes testing and free refreshments. The event will start at 12 noon,with 5x30 involving students in a samba reggae and street dancing session.
QECC has already achieved Healthy Schools status. A spokesperson for the school said:"We are committed to promoting healthier lifestyles, not only for our students, but also their families, our staff and the wider community. Thursday will be a fantastic opportunity for people to meeta wide varietyofexperts and organisations at one fun free event"

"Whoever you are and whatever your age, Thursday's free event will have something of interest for you. Take part in an activity, win a hamper and find out what health and care services are available locally."
Crediton's event is one of a series of community health days hosted by LINk Devon.
