Pump up the volume with a ‘hearty voice’

LINk Devon has been talking to the British Heart Foundation (BHF) about their Hearty Voices initiative. This is a course that has been designed to give people the skills, confidence and knowledge needed to influence health care services in the UK.

It is a one day, free course and gives participants, many of whom are heart patients or carers, the tools they need to be effective user representatives and work with health care professionals to ensure heart services are relevant and patient led.

As it is now a statutory obligation (in law) to have user representation, the Hearty Voices course gives people affected by heart disease an opportunity to make a contribution to Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) and work in partnership with health care professionals.

In Devon, the BHF along with the LINk are planning a Hearty Voices day at the Sandy Park Conference Centre in Exeter on September 28th. As well as being a free training day, all reasonable travel costs to the venue will be reimbursed.

If you are interested and would like to know more or register for a place, please contact the BHF Hearty Voices team on 0844 576 6333 or visit their website at bhf.org.uk/heartyvoices

Your LINk contact for this is Lynne Robertson who may be contacted on 01404 549 045 and at linkdevon@edvsa.org.uk
