LINk raises a voice for Devon


LINk Devon has showcased positive impacts in health and social care services across Devon in a recent Annual Report.

LINk Devon has played an active role in engaging with communities to improve the commissioning and provision of health and social care services across the county networking over 1,000 individuals and groups across Devon.

As an organisation with statutory powers, LINk are well placed to voice people's views and concerns, and raise issues with the NHS and Department of Health, Care Quality Commission, Primary Care Trusts, Foundation Trusts and Local Authority.Achievements of the year include:

  • 17 requests for information from commissioners or service providers.
  • Successfully participated in 13 statutory consultations and programmes.
  • Helped to influence the creation of 20,400 new dental places.
  • Robust mechanisms in place to report all views to NHS Devon, NHS Trusts, Devon County Council, Care Quality Commission, Devon Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
  • Hosted a series of Altogether Healthier health fairs across the county reaching over 1,000 people.
  • Recruited and trained a team of Authorised Representatives to carry out Enter and View hospital visits.
  • Carried out community engagement with hard to reach groups. Created a Young LINk especially to gather teenager health views.
  • Hosted innovative Beach Mole Patrols which provided over 200 skin mole checks.
  • Developed successful partnership working arrangements.
  • Supported the development of a new Patient Support Scheme
